President Obama has invited police Sgt. James Crowley and Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates for beer.

President Obama, Sgt. James Crowley and Harvard Professor Henry L. Gates Jr. sat down for a beer at the White House on Thursday.

Vick. A Pat?

In entertainment, news, sports on July 31, 2009 at 6:29 am

When asked if there were any teams that he could go to, Vick would not elaborate.  He only stated “We’re close”.  To me that was an optimistic announcement made by a man who is grateful to be at least reinstated in the NFL.  But then Belichick spoke..

When asked if the Patriots were interested, Bill Belichick answered, “Michael is an outstanding player, hasn’t played in a couple of years,” Belichick said. “But right now, our focus is on our team and our players and trying to get the New England Patriots ready and so that’s really where my attention’s been. But he’s a tremendous athlete. Where exactly he is right now, I don’t know.”

We all know Coach Belichick to be a little crazy.  Maybe he’s crazy like a fox.

Vick, A Tough Sell

In news on July 30, 2009 at 12:38 pm

grid_071119_sport_vick_12p-1.rp350x350“Conditionally” reinstated QB Michael Vick is finding out how hard it is to get a team to sign him.  Even harder to find a team willing to give him a tryout.

Two days ago, NFL Commish, Roger Goodell cleared the way for Vick to play again.  The conditions of his reinstatement were laid out.  If Vick can find a team, he can participate in preseason activities and play in the final two preseason games.  Also, Vick would not be eligible to play for the first 6 regular season games.

The exotic model — which, in typical speedster fashion has no windscreen — will be on display at the Detroit auto show next month for all to see.

The 2,115-Calorie Salad… & 11 other “healthy” choices to avoid

In Food, Health, Men on July 28, 2009 at 4:42 pm

salad-376x270No meal on the planet starts out healthier than a salad. And when a salad is done right-when it is loaded with vitamins and minerals and fiber, is low in fat and sodium, and offers a wide array of tastes and textures-nothing can beat it as a weight-loss tool. But most of today’s salad entrées aren’t healthy at all, and your local salad bar is more like a jungle, where those once-tender leaves are drenched in a toxic rain of fat and sodium.

Reinstatement, But Further Suspension on Vick

In news, sports on July 28, 2009 at 4:31 pm

grid_071119_sport_vick_12p-1.rp350x350NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell made public his decision to reinstate Michael Vick to play in the NFL…. Conditionally.

Though Vick will be eligible to sign with a team, he won’t be eligible to play for as much as 6-weeks.

This decision is either because of further punishment that Goodell wants to impose or because the NFL does not want Vick to be the focus on their season-opening week.
